Two public intoxication arrests made, burglary occurs
ANNA, Texas – Anna Police responded to a hold-up alarm at Anna Fine Wine and Liquor at 8: 45 p.m. on April 24.
Officers on the scene soon discovered that a panicked female employee, no doubt remembering Love's Travel Mart robbery the night before, hit the alarm as an unidentified male suspect grabbed two bottles of liquor and ran out the door without paying.
In other police news: An unoccupied home in the 1 000 blo ck of Willow Way in Oak Hollow was hit by burglars on the afternoon of April 23. The home, with a “For Sale” sign in front, lost a refrigerator. |

ANNA, Texas – The Anna Police Department is applying for a grant through the Cops Hiring and Recovery Act of 2009 for our additional officers.
The current Department roster has 10 filled slots – the chief, a sergeant, one detective and seven patrol officers.
“Small towns in Texas have a ratio of three officers per 1,000 residents,” said Police Chief Kenny Jenks. “In Anna, our ratio right now is one officer per 1,000 residents,” continued Jenks.

ANNA, Texas – Early Tuesday morning, around 2:40 a.m., a 911 domestic violence call came from a hysterical female caller, according to Anna Police Sgt. Jeff Caponera. Police officers arriving at the scene in the Anna Mobile Home Park found a woman with obvious signs of injuries. |

ANNA, Texas – Last week, around midnight, an Anna officer on routine patrol noticed a pickup truck suspiciously backed up to a garage in the 800 block of East White Street.
One of the two occupants sitting in the pickup identified himself as the owner of both the pickup and the home. The officer ran a check on both of the individuals. While the results were clear on the owner, the passenger had an outstanding felony warrant. He was ar-rested for the warrant as well as for possession of a controlled substance.

ANNA, Texas – A quick change (money not clothes) artist was at work in Anna, according to Anna Police Sergeant Jeff Caponera.
According to police information, a couple ordered some french fries at Carl's Jr. at Love's Truck Stop. The man paid with a $20 bill and received his change. He then asked the girl at the cash register to return the $20 bill, saying he would give her $20 back in small bills. |
