The subject of smoking has been in the news a lot lately. In Dallas, just about a week ago, however, a law was passed where there won't be any smoking permitted indoors at bars, the last bastion of hard core smokers.
It seems like being a smoker is not en vogue in our country, anyway. We seem to be so close to totally outlawing smoking, except for the fact that major tobacco producers contribute mega funds to myriad politicians.

Much has been written and said about the incident where Dallas Police Officer Robert Powell pulled over Ryan Moats, a Bishop
Lynch graduate and current running back for the Houston Texans.
As most of us know, Moat's ran a red light rushing to his dying mother-inlaw's bed at Baylor Hospital in Plano. Obviously this story has touched many people in many ways, some positively, some not so positively.

Our society is made up of a hotbed of people waiting to pounce on someone to blame for all the ills that befall them and their lots in life.
Were you aware of the fact that the AIG executives are now receiving death threats?
Even the ones who have committed to giving their entire bonuses back are getting equally harassed. Some of them have been subpoenaed to Washington to testify about the whole ordeal.

Barack Obama signed a bill which allows federal funding for embryonic stem cell research. One of his biggest rationales for doing this is that some of our best scientists are leaving for other countries that will sponsor their work and those countries may explode ahead of the U.S. in scientific advances that transform lives. |
